Gaze on beautiful coral reef formations, come across Hawaiian sea turtles along the Hilo coastline and more, as you explore two dive sites on this exciting introductory SCUBA diving adventure in Sea Turtle Cove, near Hilo. Your tour includes a 45 minute course, where you’ll get a safety briefing, learn underwater breathing techniques and gain insight on how your equipment works from an expert SCUBA instructor. You’ll also enjoy a light snack and fruit juice and two 45 minute SCUBA diving sessions before heading to two different dive spots, where you’ll see double lava arches, sea turtles, parrotfish, manta rays and more. With so many learning opportunities and chances to see marine life, this is the perfect tour for non-certified divers and aquatic life enthusiasts.
Begin your underwater diving excursion by assembling at your meetup location for a 45-minute course that covers safety procedures and teaches you how your SCUBA diving equipment works. You’ll follow up your safety briefing with another 45-minute learning session, where you’ll hop in an indoor heated pool and learn underwater breathing techniques, essential for enjoying your underwater SCUBA diving experience. Get to know how your SCUBA diving gear works before departing from the downtown Hilo location of Wailoa Boat harbor to explore underwater dive spots in Hilo Bay. Hilo sits on the gateway to Kilauea volcano, the Earth’s most active volcano and is an ideal location for diving enthusiasts to experience an unspoiled marine ecosystem for top-notch diving.
Venture beyond the break wall on a 45 minute cruise on a 28-foot boat to your first dive spot, where you may come across dolphin pods and view the majestic underwater structures of the ancient volcanic caldera, including caves, single lava arches, a sand bottom 60 feet below. Dive into a second diving location to experience Hilo Bay’s abundant aquatic life, including sleeping cave sharks, angelfish, tangs and the Hawaiian green sea turtle, which you’ll find the most in Hilo, more than any other location in Hawaii. Watch tangs clean the sea turtles’ shells at the turtle cleaning station before heading back to your port destination.
Whether you’re looking forward to meeting up with manta rays or seeing the sea turtles, this exciting underwater excursion offers a ton to do and see for the ultimate underwater experience. Sign up for your SCUBA diving sea adventure and get ready to explore the underwater world of Hilo Bay!
